Drug Companies Pay Doctors? — Say It Ain’t So

A new study by journalism group ProPublica, Consumer Reports magazine, NPR radio and several publications have found that 7 major pharmaceutical companies paid over 17,000 doctors and other healthcare providers to “talk about their products”, including encouraging them to prescribe their medications for conditions they are not approved for.  The odd thing about this is not only is it not illegal, it is usually not even considered improper.

Read more about this study in this Reuter’s article.

More information about this phenomenon are shown in several reports on the ProPublica website.

Advocate Capital Client Web Portal Enhancement

We have added yet another feature for our clients’ convenience on our website.  In addition to generating case balance histories, payoff reports and duplicate invoices, our clients now have the ability to submit a standard funding request online.

This is such an important feature for our clients who practice in different time zones and/or work outside standard business operation hours.  Clients can submit their funding requests on “their time” and have them in the system, ready for processing by ACI customer service staff at the start of the next banking day.

Many thanks to our wonderful clients who make it such a pleasure to come to work each day.  We look forward to continuing to serve you in your efforts to achieve justice on behalf of your clients!

Flawed Paperwork Aggravates a Foreclosure Crisis

We all know that trial lawyers can be “demonized” by the press and the public at large.  However, for most Americans, access to the civil justice system via contingent fee attorneys is their only opportunity for redress if they have been damaged in some way by a large corporation or insurance company.

The recent spate of shoddy procedures in the mortgage banking system (or outright fraud, depending on your point of view) is providing another opportunity for the trial bar to assist the public in its pursuit of justice and fairness.
