According to Law.com, almost 50 lawsuits allege that infant formula has killed or sickened premature babies.
Over the last two years, multiple lawsuits have been filed against Abbott Laboratories, Similac, and Enfamil manufacturer Mead Johnson.
The lawsuits allege the companies have made false statements that their infant formula is safe for premature babies. Multiple studies have found their formula is not safe for premature babies. Studies have found their formula can cause gastrointestinal inflammation in premature babies.
The company Abbott Laboratories filed a motion in April 2021 requesting an evidentiary hearing for possible sanction against a law firm. The company alleges a plaintiff law firm in Connecticut is drumming up business with false advertisements on Facebook.
During one of the cases, the Connecticut plaintiff law firm asked for voluntary dismissal of one of their cases against Abbott Laboratories.
Abbott Laboratories claims these cases were a sham from the start and has uncovered information to back up their claims.
