Knowing how to be a successful leader can be a challenge. Leadership roles can come in many forms from being a lead on a case, starting a committee in your community, or leading a volunteer team.
According to Attorneyatwork.com, here are a few tips on ways to practice being a better leader:
Enable Others to Act.
Leaders are often depicted as being the head of the pack demanding orders and telling people what to do. Those people are “bosses” not leaders. The most effective leaders are those who hire bright people and get out of their way. Leaders can often be described as someone who is a support system for their team. They make sure their team members have the tools they need to succeed and help their team when they need it. People who see their subordinates as people to boss around eventually find that few people want to work for them.
Inspire a Shared Vision.
Effective leaders give the work of the team context. They can share their vision with their team effectively and what it will look like when it’s done.
Model the Way.
Effective leaders show what the expectations are. They don’t ask their team to do something they wouldn’t do themselves.
