According to an article by Michael Nedelman of CNN, one lot of anti-anxiety medication Alprazolam, which is commonly sold as the brand name Xanax, has been recalled by the company Mylan Pharmaceuticals Inc. The company stated it is voluntarily recalling the effected lot of medication nationwide as a result of the “potential presence of foreign substance.”
Mylan reported in their announcement on Friday, October 25, that they had not, to date, received any reports of adverse reactions as a result of the recalled lot of medication. They also stated effects from the foreign substance are “expected to be rare, but the remote risk of infection to a patient cannot be ruled out.”
Bottles of 500 0.5 mg Alprazolam Tablets with a lot number of 8082708 are included in the recall.
