Today is National Arbor Day, a day we devote to celebrating trees and their importance to our everyday lives. Theodore Roosevelt once said, “To exist as a nation, to prosper as a state, and to live as a people, we must have trees,” and he was right. Trees not only provide shade on sunny days or scenery along the highway, they offer a wealth of benefits to our wildlife, our neighborhoods, and our environment. According to the Arbor Day Foundation, trees supply food and clean water, they lower energy costs and add value to homes, and they help stop climate change by removing carbon dioxide from the air and releasing oxygen into the atmosphere. It’s hard to believe that trees do so much, but it’s part of why we need them-- why we need to celebrate them and plant them.
Our team at Advocate Capital, Inc. supports this sentiment, and we support the work that the Arbor Day Foundation does by inspiring people to plant, nurture and celebrate trees. In fact, with each new client that comes on board, we donate to the nonprofit and plant 10 trees in the law firm’s honor. These trees are planted in select national forests like the Tahoe National Forest in California, the Chippewa National Forest in northern Minnesota, and the Klamath National Forest along the border of California and Oregon. As of today, our donations have assisted in the replanting of 5,765 trees nationwide!
In addition to planting trees with the Arbor Day Foundation, Advocate Capital, Inc. works with an all paperless system and has been doing so since 2010. It has eliminated the need to mail invoices to clients and saved about 15,000 sheets of paper annually. The company also created The Green Initiative to promote better, more environmentally-friendly practices within the office such as reducing excess packaging and waste, regulating electrical usage, and recycling aluminum cans.
We hope that you will join us in celebrating National Arbor Day today and all the benefits trees provide!
