According to Food Safety News, Washington Beef, LLC recently recalled more than 15 tons of beef. The recall was initiated due to ground beef products that may be contaminated with extraneous materials.
The beef in the recall is ground beef produced on December 27, 2018 and includes a freeze by date of January 20, 2019. The recalled beef is sold as 1, 3, and 10-pound packages from 71 to 90 percent lean.
The unnamed materials found in the beef were discovered by a consumer complaint to the company on February 28, 2019.
According to the United States Department of Agriculture, there have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of the recalled products.
Consumers who have purchased the recalled beef are urged not to consume them. Those who have purchased the beef are also encouraged to throw the beef away or return them to the place of purchase.
