Take some time in the beginning of this new year to determine one or two areas you want to improve in. Even the most experienced lawyers and the most successful law firms have areas that could use improvement, such as marketing, litigation strategy, or organizational skills.
Larson also suggests creating a career plan for your next two, five, or even ten years. Determine your short-term, mid-term, and long-term goals and remind yourself of those goals throughout the year, and revise them when needed, to keep you and your firm on the track to success.
Try different ways of networking and landing new clients. Larson proposes that lawyers can use social media, host a community event, volunteer, join an organization, or simply schedule lunches with others.
