Road rage and aggressive driving has become a major problem in today’s world. Statistics show that 70 percent of traffic fatalities deal with aggressive drivers.
It’s important to be aware of the dangers of road rage in preparation for the holiday season and those long road trips home.
- Always wait until other drivers gives you the right-of-way. In the act of assuming it is automatically yours, you could potentially be setting up a traffic hazard for you and others surrounding you.
- Keep your behavior in check on the road as you would in any other setting. Try not to take another driver’s error personally. Take a deep breath and be polite because reacting to a driver’s mistake could escalate the situation very quickly.
- If the situation is escalating and you cannot get away, call 911 or drive directly to the closest police station. Trying to take matters into your own hands could cause serious conflict. It’s better to leave a situation like this into the hands of the police.
Accidents caused by aggressive drivers is a serious matter and depending on the circumstances there may be criminal charges filed against them. Always be sure to report such accidents.
