Implementing new software at your law firm is exciting, but it can also be challenging. It is crucial to the success of the new software that you prepare for the challenges you may face before you begin implementation. Josh Taylor of Attorneyatwork.com talks about the hurdles that law firms may face when they choose to begin using a new software in his recent article.
Taylor suggests writing a “software project plan” that includes your implementation steps, a timeline, and a checklist of what needs to be done to fully implement the change. He says that your plan should involve thinking about your current system you are replacing and the files and data you need to transfer over so that nothing gets left behind.
According to Taylor, it is important to prepare your staff for the change by managing their expectations and adjusting their job roles, if necessary. Change can be difficult so support your employees through the transition and give ample opportunity to address any concerns or questions they may have.
