Because the internet is one of the top ways that people get their information, Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is important to your firm. The higher up on Google your firm appears, the better. Below are a few tips from Attorney at Work to increase SEO and improve your writing.
- Keywords
Use keywords or key phrases that your potential clients might be searching for. Use these keywords in the first few sentences and a few more times throughout your article or blog. Generally, you want key terms to be 2-3% of the total word count. For example, in a 300-word writing, keywords should appear 6-9 times. Remember, though, when you are writing, that your target audience may not be as familiar with legal terminology. Limit your “lawyer talk.”
- Stay Updated
Make sure to continue to make updates to your website, such as changing up your bio, and verifying that all information is up to date. Write blogs regularly or even update an old blog when the topic is relevant again.
- LinkedIn and Social Media
Become active on social media, especially LinkedIn. Link your firm’s website to your LinkedIn profile, and keep your profile updated with your career and professional accomplishments.
Improving SEO takes time. Start by implementing these tactics, and continue to stay up to date on the current SEO best practices.
