Advocate Capital Adopts Local School in Honor of Teacher’s Appreciation Week

In honor of teacher appreciation week, May 8-12^th, Advocate Capital, Inc. adopted a local Metro Nashville Public School, John F. Kennedy Middle School, located in Antioch, Tennessee. Advocate Capital, Inc. hosted a luncheon for over 100 faculty members to thank our local educators. Several employees also volunteered at the school’s carnival and enjoyed chaperoning soccer, football, and other fun games.

Teacher Appreciation Day falls on the first whole week of May each year. President Ronald Reagan established Teachers Appreciation Week in 1986 in memory of a devoted teacher, Sharon Christa McAuliffe, who, along with the other CHALLENGER crew members, lost her life on January 28, 1986. To commemorate Sharon Christa McAuliffe and her brave companions, “The Congress, by Public Law 99-480, has designated September 1986 through May 1987 as "National Year of the Teacher" and January 28, 1987, as "National Teacher Appreciation Day" and authorized and requested the President to issue a proclamation in observance of this year and of this day.”

Teachers are a pivotal part of our present and our future. We are grateful to be a part of the Nashville community, and Advocate Capital is proud to support this incredible profession.
