Gary Gwilliam is the founding partner of Gwilliam Ivary Chiosso Cavalli & Brewer, located in Oakland, CA. Within the 61 years of Mr. Gwilliam’s practice at law, he has mastered the titles of prosecutor, mentor, author, motivational speaker, and trailblazer. Mr. Gwilliam eloquently and modestly explains his journey to success on the November 10, 2024, episode of the Coopers Corner podcast. Mr. Gwilliam discusses the struggles he faced on his journey and how he overcame those struggles to become the outstanding attorney he is today. His entire professional life exhibits his determination to uphold his character and reputation as an attorney of impeccable stature.

Mr. Gwilliam is a notable motivational mentor and educator in the legal industry. He is an author and enjoys sharing his experiences and life lessons, including his journey through substance abuse and improving his quality of life and career. Mr. Gwilliam has held high-ranking positions within the Trial Lawyers Association. During his impressive tenure, he was instrumental in changing California legislation, reversing initiatives that place caps on the percentage of fees for attorneys across the state. Mr. Gwilliam is a champion to his peers and a solid advocate for his clients.

As a result of his impressive career and his dedication to his practice and community, on January 16, 2025, the Alameda-Contra Costa Trial Lawyers Association will recognize Mr. Gwilliam with the respected award of “Legend of the Law” at their 54^th Annual Judges Night. This event is an opportunity to fellowship and socialize with local judges and attorney peers. Mr. Gwilliam will be honored for his impressive lifelong work as an attorney and mentor. Receiving this award is a testament to his continued climb to success.
