Content marketing is a type of marketing where a business creates blogs, videos, podcast episodes, etc. to share with their audience with the goal of informing and helping them instead of selling to them. Offering informational content to your prospective clients and referral sources establishes you as an expert and a resource that people want to hire and work with.
Before you begin writing and planning content, Marrone says you should know what you want the "main takeaway" to be and begin with that. This will help you establish the point early on and keep you on track as you continue to write and plan your content. Also, people often times do not make it all the way through a piece of content, due to time or interest, so it is best to relay the most important information first.
Many people connect to content best when there is a visual element involved, so Marrone suggests incorporating visuals into your content when possible. This can be images, infographics, videos, etc. that will draw their attention and help your audience better understand the content overall. Marrone said, "Stopping the scroll should be your ultimate goal in all content marketing efforts."
