Some companies are pros at working-at-home (WAH) while others moved to WAH early this past spring.
Advocate Capital moved its office employees to WAH in early March, and our Strategic Solutions team provided the team with valuable tips and tricks.
See the below tidbits for ways to stay healthy while working from home.
Ditch the chair – use a standing desk and give your back a break.
Get up every hour and get outside at least once a day – Set a timer each hour to remind you to get up and stretch. Get outside and take a walk around the block and get some sunshine and fresh air.
Take mindfulness breaks – Use some of your ‘every hour breaks’ to get up, take a deep breath, and be mindful of your surroundings. Pet the dog, peer out the window and see what’s going on out there. Small breaks are a quick dose of joy and will help you feel more optimistic.
Schedule workouts – Take advantage of your schedule and plan workouts as you do phone meetings.
Keep the kitchen stocked with healthy snacks and meals – Now that your kitchen is part of your work environment, how many of you wander into the kitchen and snack on candy and junk food? Replace the junk with fresh fruits and vegetables and keep temptation at bay.
