We are all aware of search engine optimization (SEO) and the ongoing competition for the top result on Google. As a business owner, you may have been approached by “SEO experts” or “Google experts” to sell you tricks or shortcuts to increase your ranking. In a recent blog, Dan Jaffe, CEO of LawLytics™, warns about the pitfalls of listening to these SEO salespeople and shares some simple tips to help you get the most out of your law firm web marketing.
Here are a few of his suggestions:
- Write good content. “Educate and entertain your potential clients and referral sources.” Blogging is an amazing tool that allows you to connect with clients and naturally increase your SEO.
- Use handshakes, not megaphones. “Participate in social media the same way you would participate in in-person networking events. Make friends. Influence your peers. You’ll be amazed at how much more effective this is than trying to trick the search engines. It will result in more referrals, and more efficient search engine results.”
- Be patient. Avoid fear and greed. “The truth is that building a lasting online marketing infrastructure takes time. Most shortcuts that you pay for today will cost you dearly in the long run.”
