Since 2005, Lawdragon has provided a searchable online profile database of legal professionals, including attorneys and firms, as well as industry news and information about legal education. This fast-growing company recently opened a London office in June 2013 and is planning more new initiatives to be released later this year. In a recent article, legal directories and marketing consultant, Lloyd Pearson, interviewed Lawdragon’s founder, Katrina Dewey, and chief of strategic development, Catherine McGregor, about the new projects.
The newest project, the Lawdragon Insight Guides, will “feature detailed practice and industry-focused rankings, features and analysis.” This guide will interview buyers about their external relationships with law firms and give each firm “around three pages of editorial coverage and analysis.” Private funds will be the focus of the first issue which is set to be released in February 2014. Lawdragon will release these guides in both hard copy and online formats.
The Law School Report, headed by the former Consumer Reports editor, Margot Slade, will be the “largest ever survey of lawyer satisfaction with their careers and education.” This report will provide students with crucial information before deciding on a law school and “reveal which law schools have the best employment rates in the states where those students want to work.” Lawdragon believes this report will offer competition to the US News rankings. Survey results are expected to be released later this year.
