According to Lisa Eadicicco of Business Insider, a class action lawsuit has been filed against Apple and T-Mobile as a result of an incident that allowed a user’s Apple ID to remain attached to their T-Mobile SIM card.
The Apple ID was still attached to their T-Mobile SIM card after the user had given the SIM card back to T-Mobile and gotten a new phone number.
This security issue resulted in the previous owner of the SIM card receiving iMessages and FaceTime calls that were meant for the new owner of the SIM card.
The plaintiff claims that Apple’s marketing is misleading because Apple states they are “highly secure despite the flaw,” and that they are causing customers to unknowingly become “victims of extensive security data breaches.”
