According to Kate Gibson of CBS News, Sunbeam Products is recalling nearly 1 million of their crockpots due to the burn risks they pose in pressure mode.
Consumers have reported the lid popping off during the cooking process and causing hot food and liquids to spew out.
The recall applies to their Crock-Pot 6-Quart Express Crock Multi-Cookers, model number SCCPPC600-V1. When the lid is not locked properly, pressure builds up causing the lid to come off.
The company has received 119 reports from consumers of this occurring and 99 reports of injuries.
If you own one of these recalled crockpots, you can call 800-323-9519 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. EST, Monday through Friday, or go online to recall.crockpot.com to get a replacement lid for your crockpot.
