If you haven’t tried UBER yet, it is the next best thing to “The Jetsons” mode of transportation.
I was first introduced to UBER by a savvy, female trial lawyer, in Los Angeles and it quickly became my favorite travel tool.
Currently in 37 US cities, (and 31 countries worldwide) it is transportation simplified! Download the UBER app on your smart phone and take 2 minutes to create your UBER account and you’re literally ready to roll.
The next time you need a lift, click the UBER app on your smart phone, choose the car/method of your choice and click request a ride. Prepare yourself to be “wowed” by the service, efficiency and simplicity.
UBER offers several transportation options:
UBER X: clean, friendly, efficient (the most economical). This is typically an individual driving their personal vehicle. Did I mention “clean”?
Black Car: a little more expensive, for those who like luxury or want to impress.
SUV: a little pricier still, for those in need of a little more room.
When you select your car/transportation type and request a ride via the app on your smart phone, you will immediately receive a text including the closest driver’s contact information, a picture of the driver, and the message that your UBER driver is on the way, along with the estimated number of minutes until arrival. While you wait, you can track your driver’s location and track their progress toward your destination. The driver’s location is tracked via GPS as is yours, so when you request the ride on the app, there is nothing else for you to do. The service (in my experience) has been top-notch.
When you arrive at your destination, the fare is automatically billed to the credit card on your profile and a receipt sent to the email address on file. The receipt includes the pickup and drop off locations, a picture of the driver, the fare amount and the chance to “rate” your driver. That’s it. No tipping, no pulling out your wallet for money, and no waiting for credit card approval or receipt. You can also log into your account anytime to view a complete history of your UBER trips and track any left behind items. The GPS tracking also provides a little more security.
It’s a fantastic solution for business travelers, those who prefer door-to-door service instead of fighting traffic and wasting time looking for parking, and a great alternative to driving if you’ve had an alcoholic beverage.
Check it out and let us hear what you think!
