Making mental health and self-care a priority is vital to business success, especially for professions like the legal profession where work can be emotionally and physically tolling. Katie Carelli of LexBlog provides some helpful self-care tips in her recent article.
We all know planning is an essential step in achieving professional success. Carelli suggests doing the same for your personal life by creating a self-care action plan to slowly incorporate wellness activities into your life. Sit down and evaluate self-care activities or tasks you want to do, like drinking a certain amount of water a day, meditating each morning, reading before bed, or getting a certain number of hours of sleep each night, and create a plan of how you will introduce them gradually week by week.
Carelli also says that having something to look forward to can be beneficial to your overall well-being. Whether it is a movie night with a friend or significant other or a day at the park or zoo with family or friends, according to Carelli, having a fun activity or event to look forward to "leads to positive anticipation, which counteracts boredom and can reduce depression and anxiety."
