Law Firm Marketing Club recently released their annual research, "What Clients Want" where they survey law firm clients and prospective clients about what they want most from their lawyers. Clare Fanner, the CEO of Law Firm Marketing Club shared some of that research in an article for Lawyer Monthly.
According to Fanner, their research found that "the top three ‘wants’, in order, are Clearer Communication, Service and Pricing." When looking for a lawyer to hire, people want someone who is communicative, values customer service, and is transparent with their pricing.
The research showed that when people look for a lawyer, they trust professionals and family and friends most for referrals. They also found people look at legal directories and read reviews when choosing a lawyer.
Fanner explains they also asked about preferred methods of communication. The results showed, "Phone and email are both ranked as important by over 80% of clients overall. However, when you look at the results by age, the under 30s are less keen on using email at 62%." Fanner said the younger individuals surveyed were more open to using newer technology like video conferencing and WhatsApp to communicate with their lawyers.
