According to Attorneyatwork.com, actively using your LinkedIn profile can help develop your law firm. While most lawyers are on LinkedIn, you may not be actively using your account to promote yourself or your business.
If you’re looking to grow and actively use your LinkedIn here are some tips from Attorneyatwork.com’s three month strategy:
1st Month:
- Look at your profile.
Many times, LinkedIn accounts look like online resumes. LinkedIn should be used for more than just a place to list your experience as a lawyer. LinkedIn is a great way to make connections in your niche market. You can easily create your personal brand and position yourself as an expert. Find ways to beef up your LinkedIn account by sharing articles, writing posts, or sharing information in the field you’re an expert in. This will be more relevant to potential clients and referral sources than your experience as a lawyer.
2nd Month:
- Block time for LinkedIn.
If marketing yourself and creating connections is a priority, you’ll want to block out time for it. The best way to do this is to create a reoccurring task on your calendar to take 10-15 minutes every day making connections and marketing your expertise.
3rd Month:
- Take conversations offline.
Online platforms are a great way to start a conversation and make connections. Continuing those relationships and creating long lasting relationships work better if you take them offline. Try reaching out to your connections via a LinkedIn message asking if they’d like to meet up for coffee or a phone call to have a more personal business relationship. This tactic might not always work but it’s a great place to start.
