A man who lives and works near B. Braun Medical’s plant in Lehigh County, Pennsylvania has sued the company over emissions of cancer-causing chemicals used to clean medical equipment.
As reported by TheNationalTrialLawyers.org, “Adam Akarsoy of Whitehall Township is the plaintiff in a proposed class-action lawsuit on behalf of up to 24,000 people in the area.”
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency identified the area as having an elevated lifetime cancer risk because of B. Braun’s plant emissions.
The National Trial Lawyer article says B. Braun is a German medical device maker and is identified as the nation’s 12 largest emitter of ethylene oxide. The chemical is linked to breast and blood cancers.
