According to CBSNews.com, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is warning consumers against using or charging NHT X1-5 hoverboards.
The CSPC is warning consumers to not use or charge the hoverboard due to fact that the lithium batteries in the product can overheat and pose a fire risk.
The federal agency is aware of at least one report of the X1-5 hoverboard overheating and smoking. They also tested one of the boards and concluded that it did comply with safety standards.
The manufacturer New High-Tech Enterprise has refused to issue a recall of the product.
The agency could not say how many hoverboards were sold or when they were sold. The hoverboards have been sold on Amazon and other online retailors.
