Newsletters can be a great way to build relationships with your clients, but it is important to a produce a quality newsletter that will inform your clients not annoy them. Lynn Luong, Digital Marketing Manager for Smokeball and Above the Law contributor, gives several tips on how to create an effective law firm newsletter.
One of the most important factors of a successful newsletter is consistency. You should use the same color scheme, fonts, and general design for each issue of your newsletter.
Pick a few colors, such as the colors in your law firm’s logo and use only those colors throughout each newsletter.
Similarly, choose no more than two fonts to use in each newsletter you send out. The fonts you choose should be professional and readable. Some good choices are Times New Roman, Verdana, and Arial. You should also make sure the font is not too large but large enough to be legible to your readers on any device.
Luong states newsletters should “deliver useful content.” Use your newsletter not only to inform your clients about your practice but to provide them with valuable information. Think about current events that are relevant to your area of practice or frequently asked questions that your clients ask you.
When writing your newsletter, you should also focus on using simple language. Avoid any legal jargon that the average client would not know.
