After a successful pilot program, mid-Atlantic based trucking company, Ward Transport and Logistics Corporation, will soon begin installing Netradyne’s Driveri safety camera system into its entire fleet of trucks, according to Forbes.
The Netradyne Driveri system is “High-resolution cameras attached to the truck’s windshield face to the left, right, forward, and toward the driver to continually record driving events,” according to Bryan Pope’s article for The Legal Examiner. The goal of the system is intended to encourage positive behaviors as opposed to punishing negative behaviors.
Forbes states, “Within two months after implementing the system, stop sign events had decreased 60 percent.” The videos also proved to be useful when accidents happened to show the insurance company who was at fault in the accident and allow drivers to analyze later.
The program has been well received by the truck drivers. A driver for the company explained to Forbes that drivers at the company began to take pride in their scores and have positive competition amongst other drivers to see who had the best driving score.
